Puerto Rico's Propane Import Surge Reignites Jones Act Fight
Puerto Rico imported about 809,000 barrels of propane from the U.S. mainland in the first months of a temporary Jones Act waiver, according to a Cato Institute analysis arguing the territory had long overpaid for fuel under the shipping law. The Washington Post has since called for making the waiver permanent, and Cato says the U.S. Virgin Islands face the same cost problem.
